Steps
With the Steps form you can generate simulation steps for the Abaqus™ simulator to use in assessing the effect of reservoir depletion.
To generate steps
- At the top of the form, select the Abaqus case of interest.
- From the Dynamic pore pressure drop-down list, select a pressure property. Only pressure properties with time steps that are mapped on the 3D mesh associated with the selected the Abaqus case are listed. Pore pressure properties can, for instance, be derived from a reservoir simulation run.
- Optional - From the Dynamic temperature drop-down list, select a temperature property. Only temperature properties with time steps that are mapped on the 3D mesh associated with the selected the Abaqus case are listed. To properly include temperature effects, see Modeling thermal effect.
- Select the time steps to be included in the simulation from the table. All the time steps that are available for both selected properties are listed, but only those steps explicitly selected in the table will be included in the simulation.
- Click OK to create the time steps in the Abaqus case Input file and close the form. The next step in the workflow, Build Deck, is opened automatically.
- The newly generated steps appear on the Steps tab of the Input File view.
The input file, which contains all of the input scripts for the simulation, can be reviewed and edited via the Abaqus case context menu option: Show view > Input File, or via the context menu option of the Input file listed in the Case Explorer, Edit section. They both open the Input file.
